We love Acorns, The staff are all so personable, friendly and supportive and create a happy, stimulating and reassuring environment for the children.I have been really impressed with how they consider and respond to all the children’s different needs and personalities and our son has developed so much since starting at Acorns a year ago. Looking forward to seeing what preschool year brings and our second son starting in the baby room in January.

Acorns Day Nursery is by far the best of the three Exeter nurseries we visited when I was preparing to go back to full-time work. Our son Natty has been attending for two days per week since the age of 10 months, and we couldn’t be happier with the service Acorns provide (and nor could Natty himself!). Proof of this is the fact that we still make the 90-mile round trip from North Cornwall to the nursery two days per week, even though I no longer work in Exeter! Natty’s younger brother will be joining him at Acorns soon. Staff are experienced, professional, always happy and approachable, and extremely friendly and accommodating. All the staff seem to know our son, despite not necessarily working with him directly, and everyone takes an interest in how he is doing. Natty has certain special needs associated with macrocephaly, hypotonia, and growth hormone deficiency, and the nursery and its staff have been incredibly supportive and understanding since Natty’s diagnosis at the age of 14 months. Now 3.5 years old, Natty has progressed from the Snug (the really super baby room) through the Burrow and the Hive to the Den (the preschool room), where he is making great progress in preparation for school. The staff support him and challenge him in just the right ways, and he has made brilliant progress since joining the nursery. The facilities at Acorns are excellent, and the building and grounds are maintained to a very high standard. This really sets Acorns apart from other nurseries we have visited both in Exeter and closer to home. The nursery evidently reinvests constantly in its facilities to provide a lovely home-from-home environment for children and staff, which we value highly. The nursery offers superb value for money generally, and even orders in the biodegradable nappies that are our preference especially for Natty!
The nursery is very proactive in keeping in touch with parents both at an individual child level (with excellent progress monitoring and reporting) and at a whole-nursery level (with regular updates about upcoming events via Famly software and email). Natty has enjoyed taking part in off-site trips to a farm park and to the library, as well as to the nursery Christmas Party at a local soft-play centre. He has also enjoyed beach and forest school days organised by the nursery at weekends. In short, we can’t praise Acorns Day Nursery highly enough, and would recommend that anyone looking for childcare in Exeter checks out this brilliant provider. Thanks very much to all the staff for being such a great part of our family’s daily life.

We have nothing but positive things to say about Acorns and feel so happy that our children are able to attend an outstanding nursery setting. Our eldest child started in The Snug at 8 months old and is now in The Den (Pre-school) aged 3. She has enjoyed every room at the nursery and has always been so well supported and cared for by her key workers, and all of the staff. Communication between the nursery and home is excellent, and Acorns really do go above and beyond to make it a stimulating, caring and enjoyable place for the children to attend. We are confident that Acorns has had a huge impact on the learning and development of our daughter, as she is regularly coming home and teaching us new songs and rhymes and telling us what she has learnt throughout the day. Now our youngest has started in The Snug we are starting our Acorns journey again with him, but this time we know he will have a wonderful time on his days at nursery, and that helps make us, as busy working parents, feel happier about trying to juggle work, childcare and finding the right balance for our family. To us, we feel like we work in partnership with Acorns on the days our children are attending, and they are always very supportive if we are trying to make any adjustments at home (like stopping dummies/potty training/fussy eating to name a few…) and staff have often given us helpful tips and advice when we have felt at a loss with some of the parenting hurdles along the way! Parents are also able to get actively involved in the nursery by joining the Parents Forum, which gives you some extra knowledge about what planning and support is put in place to make Acorns such a great nursery.

As a first time Mum with no family support I was very anxious about leaving my 1 Year old in childcare. Acorns was the perfect choice, because the staff have a brilliantly calm and caring approach which reassured me and my baby. She’s now 3 and absolutely thriving at Acorns thanks to all the staff at this outstanding nursery. It’s been wonderful to see her develop. Tallking to parents of children at other childcare in Exeter, the communication between staff and parents at Acorns is second to none which very much supports the nurturing environment.

Acorns is a home from home for us. Choosing Acorns made going back to work so much easier as I knew she was being so well looked after. The staff are always so friendly and the feedback reflects how much they know about my child. My daughter has made such good friends at Acorns and enjoys her time there so much. Thanks for everything you do and for being mummy when I cant.

As adoptive parents we were anxious about finding the right nursery for our daughter. We considered a number of things that we wanted and visited a couple of nursery providers. The moment we walked into Acorns we knew it was the one for our daughter and us, the warm reception and child focussed approach was evident. We cannot praise the nursery enough, we value the input the staff put into our daughter and the nurturing and loving approach used with all children. The communication is great and always child focused. It is a nursery that goes above and beyond and makes all children and parents feel valued.

I first looked round Acorns nursery when my daughter was only 6 weeks old. I walked in and knew instantly it was the right nursery for us meaning I was able to enjoy the rest of my maternity leave with the reassurance I had found a home from home for my little girl.
With no family close by this was particularly important as the team at Acorns would be our only alternative care. Over the last 3 years the team have never disappointed. They are kind, warm, friendly combined with professional and knowledgable – recently achieving a very well deserved Ofsted rating of outstanding. My daughter absolutely loves going to Acorns, she has made some great friends there and has a special bond with her key worker who has looked after since she was 9 months old.
I can not recommend Acorns highly enough.
